I need to update my review of my lovely home. I was actually planning to move once my lease ended due to noise from the neighbors. However, thanks to the help I received from the office staff in resolving the situation, I decided to renew my lease for another year. I feel comfortable and happy living at Second State Apartments.

I canât say enough great things about living here! The apartments themselves are beautiful, spacious, modern, and well-kept, with lovely grounds that make coming home so enjoyable. Plus, the community is pet-friendly, which was a huge bonus for me and my furry companions! A huge shoutout to Ellie, the office manager, who has been incredibly supportive and understanding. Her willingness to work with tenants and listen to individual situations truly sets this place apart. Sheâs always kind, approachable, and goes above and beyond to make sure residents feel comfortable and cared for. Itâs rare to find such dedication, and it makes all the difference. If youâre looking for a great apartment and a management team that genuinely cares, this is the place to be! Thank you, Ellie, for everything you do!

Iâve lived in a lot of places and these are the best apartments Iâve been in by far! We canât thank everyone here at Second State enough for the positive experience. We had a couple rough landlords in a row before we got here and were tired of renting in general. But Ellie and the staff have all been so kind and quick to address any concerns that weâre glad we did. My baby dog feels very at home and relaxed. We both sleep well here. This is the cleanest apartment complex Iâve ever lived in. Everything is new, the halls are well kept, and the security on the building is great to have. Itâs really meant a lot to us to enjoy where we live and we donât take it for granted â¤ï¸

We have the best manager and maintenance. I havenât had staff respond so quickly to issues. My keys were stolen and they got my keys and my lock replaced the same day I notified them. The manager is extremely kind and is easy to get ahold of. They try to accommodate for the apartments that are open for people who want to move in. I got a ground level because I have seizureâs and the corner one I wanted was available. I was also able to put up a nice temporary fence for my service dog and my senior Pomeranian. Itâs a nice smaller complex so there isnât a lot of high traffic through halls etc and itâs quiet. We really enjoy it here! And we adore the staff. â¤ï¸

Great place to live in! The apartment is spacious with a balcony with an enjoyable view. Moving in you could tell it was very fresh and well kept. And the customer service was great, Ellie was super accommodating and polite.

Ellie is an absolute gem! Apartment shopping can be very stressful but Ellie was able to show me a couple of apartments that fit in my budget and was very responsive with my questions I had. I would recommend anyone to reach out to Ellie! :)

Good points: - manager is kind to work out issues I bring up. - good bike infrastructure and repair station. Current gripe: - Not management related, but a problematic resident here, around the 5th floor west side literally screams and swears almost every single night from 11pm to 1am. Pending full resolution: - I was told both in-person and in written email correspondence with Colby that the $40 monthly parking fee can be waived because I do not own a private vehicle. He even had the agreed upon discount highlighted in green in the email. However, after I moved in, I was then told by Ellie that I will be charged the parking fee anyway. After bringing up the emails, she says they'll waive my fee. I'll have to verify this later on the payment portal and fees breakdown, but good to know they'll keep their original promise. Resolved issues: - Colby told me during the tour that maintenance will be able to help me set up black-out curtains on the window as long as I provide the needed materials. Ellie originally implied this service might not be available, but she set up an appointment with maintenance went well and everything's sorted out. I'm very satisfied. - Colby offered, as a courtesy, to move large deliveries into the studio room, with my prior permission, if I'm busy working shifts. Ellie then said they will probably just leave the item in front of the door where they may be susceptible to theft. This is no longer a concern because my furniture have been delivered. Thankfully no thefts have occurred to them.

edit: tentative 4 stars while discussing issues with management. As soon as I paid the security deposit, all the broken promises soured my good impressions of this location. I was going to praise the good bike amenities that make this apartment unique to cyclists and modern urbanists, but all the takesies backsies make me doubt the future integrity of this place. (1) I was told both in-person and in written email correspondence with Colby that the $40 monthly parking fee can be waived because I do not own a private vehicle. He even had the agreed upon discount highlighted in green in the email. This was probably the biggest incentive that guided my decision to sign a lease here. However, after the security deposit is paid, I was then told by Ellie that I will be charged the parking fee anyway. I was lied to. I'm sure there are residents who wants 2 parking spaces, but now I'm forced to pay for one that will sit empty. (2) Colby told me during the tour that maintenance will be able to help me set up black-out curtains on the window as long as I provide the needed materials. This will be helpful when I'm on night-shift and have to sleep during the day. I was then told by Ellie that maintenance probably won't be able to perform this service. (3) Colby offered, as a courtesy, to move large deliveries (e.g. furniture) into the studio room, with my prior permission, if I'm busy working shifts. Ellie then said they will probably just leave the item in front of the door where they may be susceptible to theft.

Colby was super knowledgeable about the property, and super outgoing. During the tour I took Colby was very polite and nice, offered to show me numerous vacant units on the property. Colby was very awesome to work with, and I look forward to working with him in the future.
